Renovation of an apartment in Jerusalem for a young artists couple. Located in an old building on one of the city’s iconic hillsides, the apartment is uniquely positioned with a garden on one side and a balcony on the other.
Following reimagination of the apartment’s potential, the layout was completely inverted by switching the public and private zones. The new living area opens onto the garden, drawing in natural light and a sense of openness, while the bedrooms were relocated to the side facing the balcony. The new plan includes a spacious home studio and a luxurious master suite with a private balcony overlooking the Jerusalem hills.
A key member of the household — the couple’s cat — was thoughtfully considered in the design. A discreet indoor-outdoor passage was integrated into a terrazzo bench, which also became a unifying design element as it extends throughout the apartment as flooring.
The interior design maintains a warm and personal atmosphere, preserving original arched openings that recall the client’s childhood, and combining them with wooden-framed windows and terrazzo surfaces to create a timeless, tactile living space.
The project was developed in collaboration with architect Limor Erez.
